Michael Douglas “Pop” Tweedie, 64, of Olathe, KS, passed away on July 11, 2015 at Olathe Medical Center.
   Mike was born on May 25, 1951, in Kansas City, MO to Jack and Beverly Tweedie. He was known for his kind heart, great stories, and a fun sense of humor. He developed a love for animals at an early age. He raised hamsters, dogs, cats, rabbits, and reptiles, but his favorite was his horse, Sugar.
   He met his wife, Glenna, in high school at Shawnee Mission West. They were married in 1970. Mike was the proud father of four children and the proud grandfather of five. Mike was a strong believer in a good education and was the first in his family to graduate from college. He attended Maryville University in St. Louis and earned his Master’s Degree at Midamerica Nazarene University. He got his start as a Respiratory Therapist and went on to have a successful career in the Healthcare Insurance industry.
   The most important part of his life was his faith and his love for his family.
   He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Tweedie; mother, Beverly Tweedie; and son, Matthew Tweedie.
   Mike is survived by his wife, Glenna; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Sandra Tweedie of Charleston, SC; daughter and son-in-law, Elisa and Jason King of Olathe, KS; daughter, Lauren Tweedie of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, A.J. Oubre, Michaela Oubre, Lochlynn Tweedie, Jason King, and Jordan King.
   A visitation will be held on Tuesday July 14 from 5PM-7PM at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 15 at 10AM at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens. Immediately following the service, there will be a graveside service at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
   Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Water.org.
